UCDSB Return to School Information & Confirmation of Attendance

The Upper Canada District School Board is looking forward to welcoming students and staff safely back to school in September. With the first day of school only three weeks away, we know that families have many questions about the measures being put in place to keep students and staff safe, what a school day will look like, and what remote learning will entail.

While we are still working and planning in this ever-changing environment, we have created a Return to School Guide on our website and in PDF format that will provide families with some clarity about school and classroom routines, as well as our approach to program delivery for the 2020-2021 school year.

We ask that UCDSB parents/guardians review the information in our Return to School Guide and the information in our FAQ section to get a better understanding of what school will look like this year and can confirm whether their child(ren) will be attending in-person, at their local school, or if they will be learning remotely from home.

To indicate your choice, complete this Confirmation of Attendance Form for each student in your home. This information is necessary for us to plan for the new school year and to finalize staffing. We ask that a form for each student is completed by 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 20.

As well, our Board of Trustees will be holding a virtual public information meeting on Wednesday, August 19, where public health officials, the Senior Administration of the Board, and staff from the Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario will be in attendance to share information and answer questions about current efforts to prepare and support our students’ return to our schools. Information about the meeting, including the live link to the event, will be posted in this section on our website over the coming days.

As we prepare to reopen schools and welcome our students back to class, the health and safety of our students and staff is paramount. Parents will see many, many examples of this priority in the pages of the Return to School Guide that our school staff will be following. We will also continue to work with our public health professionals and adapt our school practices and routines if there are any changes in the health priorities within the community. Please keep in touch with your school’s principal throughout the year for updates.

I hope that you will accept our best wishes as you prepare your children for the start of this new year of learning.

Thank you,

Stephen Sliwa
