Programming Update & Moving Between Learning Models
Programming Update & Moving Between Learning Models
Posted on 08/26/2020

The UCDSB has had an unanticipated amount of interest in remote learning, with 4,452 students (approximately 20 per cent of our student population) choosing this as their preferred learning model for the 2020-2021 school year. This has a direct impact on the ability for students to move between in-person and remote learning and vice-versa, and some programming for remote learners.

We had previously planned to allow students to move between learning models at set intervals, however, after receiving this data and assessing our staffing and funding, moving between delivery models once school has started may not be possible. It may have implications on class sizes and staffing requirements.

Please know that your selected delivery model may be in place for the duration of the 2020-2021 school year. Moving from one model to another will be dependent on available space within the desired program.

Additionally, students participating in remote learning may not have the same level of access to specialized and hands-on programs such as physical education, woodworking, culinary courses or some French instruction.

If this changes the decision that you made on the Confirmation of Attendance form, contact your school by Friday, August 28 at 9 a.m. so that we can ensure your child is placed in the chosen learning model.

If you did not fill out the Confirmation of Attendance form, your child will automatically be placed in in-person learning and nothing more is needed. If you did not fill out the form and want your child in remote learning for the 2020-2021 school year, please contact your school by Friday, August 28 at 9 a.m. This will be the last opportunity to opt-in to remote learning.
