OSSTF and ETFO Labour Relations Update - Jan. 17

January 17, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), which represents elementary teachers within our board, gave notice that its members will be moving forward with one-day rotating strikes next week if there is no progress made at the central bargaining table. At this time, the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) WILL NOT be impacted by the strikes being held on Monday, Jan. 20, Tuesday, Jan. 21 or Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Please note that if a strike by our ETFO members were to occur, there would be no classes or transportation for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8. Classes for students in Grade 9 to Grade 12 would continue as usual.
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), which represents secondary teachers and professional student service personnel within our board, will be continuing their rotating strikes next week as well. At this time, the UCDSB WILL NOT be impacted by the strike planned for Tuesday, Jan. 21.
We will communicate any additional labour-related updates via email, the UCDSB website and social media. We want to thank our families for their patience during these uncertain times.
Thank you,
Communications & Relations Management Dept.
Upper Canada District School Board
