St. Lawrence Secondary School Student Attends Baseball Camp at Alabama State University

October 1, 2018 (Cornwall, ON) - St. Lawrence Secondary School student Wyatt Genoway attended a baseball camp at Alabama State University recently where he showcased his skills for 10 American colleges and universities.
The 16-year-old catcher was among 140 players invited to the Alabama State University Baseball Showcase at the Wheeler-Watkins Athletic Complex in Montgomery, Alabama. He earned an invitation after his performance in August at another showcase in New York City.
The two-day camp, held September 22-23, put Genoway through a variety of defensive and batting drills, as well as an exhibition game in which scouts could see how he played under pressure.
“It was a fun experience,’ said Genoway. “I received some general tips and little tricks on how to make my game a little better.”
Genoway says it will be a few weeks before he knows if he caught the interest of any teams, which ranged from Division 1 level to junior college.
His long-term goal is to play baseball with a college or university in the United States.
“I just want to continue to play ball.”
