Rideau District High School Awarded Bronze at EOSSAA Senior Boys' A Volleyball Championship

November 27, 2017 (Elgin, ON) – The host team from Rideau District High School was awarded third place Thursday, November 16th at the EOSSAA Senior Boys’ A Volleyball Championship.
After losing in the semis to MacKenzie Secondary School of Deep River 25-22, 17-25, and 17-19, the Rideau District High School Lions were awarded third place based on the number of sets won throughout the tournament.
Coach Thomas Olvet attributed the team’s success to practice, participation in four weekend tournaments this season outside of league play, and intensity on the court. Strong performances by Captain Brett Hawkins, setter Matt Seed, and power hitters Sebastien Lecompte and Tyler McCrae were also factors.
The Lions have won the LGSSAA Senior A Boys’ title 13 of the last 16 years, and have been EOSSAA representatives to OFSAA three times over that period.
