iLead Days


Indigenous students, their allies, and educators meet five times a year to engage in increasing their Indigenous cultural awareness and understanding. Each year, the number of Indigenous students participating in iLead days continue to increase. 

UCDSB students can sign up at any point in the school year by speaking with their school's iLead teacher representative.

Some of the topics covered this year:

  • Métis history, culture and traditions
  • Algonquin cultural teachings & Plenty Canada

TEAMS meeting
Presenters: Archie Martin, Mi'kmaq Métis. and Candace Lloyd, Traditional Knowledge Holder of Métis Way of Life, Culture, History, Arts and Language (Michif).

In the morning, iLead students engaged with Archie Martin, who shared his Métis history, culture and traditions. In the afternoon, students completed a piece of Métis dot art.

TEAMS Meeting

Presenter: Larry McDermott, Algonquin from Shabot Obaadjiwan First Nation, and is the Executive Director of Plenty Canada

iLead students will engage with Larry in variety of Algonquin cultural teachings, learn about Plenty Canada and complete a project with sweetgrass.
