UCDSB Reaches Tentative Local Agreement with OSSTF District 26 Teachers

(Brockville) – At approximately 2 a.m. on Friday, November 6, the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) reached a tentative memorandum of settlement with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) District 26 Teachers’ Bargaining Unit (TBU). This local settlement, when ratified by the UCDSB and the OSSTF TBU membership, will complete the bargaining process for secondary teachers and complement the agreement on provincial issues achieved on August 20. Terms of the settlement will remain confidential until ratified by both parties.

“I am pleased both sides have come to the table at the local level and reached an agreement,” said Chair Jeff McMillan. “I appreciate the hard work by all those involved. I am hopeful that local agreements can be reached with our other unions as well.”

“I am pleased that the board and OSSTF reached a local agreement that is mutually beneficial to both parties,” added Director Charlotte Patterson. “In so doing, we contribute to the board's ultimate goal of improving student learning and well-being.”

In addition to OSSTF teachers, the Upper Canada District School Board has four other bargaining units representing elementary teachers, occasional teachers and support staff. Bargaining on local issues for these unions is ongoing and the UCDSB remains optimistic that those processes will be brought to a conclusion in a timely and cooperative manner.
