OSSTF and ETFO Labour Relations Update - Jan. 23

Due to ETFO and OSSTF job action, the UCDSB will not be issuing Elementary Term 1 report cards. Secondary Semester 1 report cards will be issued, but no comments will be provided. Read more for additional details.

OSSTF and ETFO Labour Relations Update - Jan. 17

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) gave notice that its members will be moving forward with one-day rotating strikes on Monday, Jan. 20 to Wednesday, Jan.23.
 The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) WILL NOT be impacted on these days. The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) will be continuing their rotating strikes next week as well. At this time, the UCDSB WILL NOT be impacted. Read more for additional details.

No Classes for Grades 9-12 on January 15

Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation will hold a one-day strike on January 15 at some school boards across the province, including the Upper Canada District School Board. There will be no classes, planned activities, co-op placements, dual-credit programs, or extracurriculars for students in Grades 9 to 12 on January 15. Read more for additional details. 


UCDSB will be impacted by OSSTF rotating strikes, ETFO escalates job action

The UCDSB will be impacted by OSSTF one-day strikes planned for January15. There will be no classes for Gr. 9-12 students on that day. Classes for K-8 WILL proceed as usual, even if Gr.7 & Gr. 8 students are in a high school. ETFO is withdrawing additional services in elementary schools starting Jan. 13. UCDSB will not administer January EQAO assessment

The Ministry of Education has directed school boards to decide whether or not to administer the EQAO Grade 9 math assessments scheduled for January. The UCDSB has decided NOT to administer the EQAO Grade 9 math assessment scheduled for January. Teachers will continue to teach and assess the remainder of the math curriculum for Semester 1. UCDSB Will Not Be Impacted by Rotating Strikes on Dec.11


The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) 
announced that it will continue with one-day rotating strikes at selected school boards across the province on Wednesday, December 11. The UCDSB will not be impacted. Read more.


OSSTF Labour Relations Update Dec. 3

 The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF)
 has not yet reached a deal with the province and have planned a one-day walkout on Wednesday, December 4 unless a deal is reached. Here is how students and schools will be impacted on Wednesday, December 4. Read more.


OSSTF Labour Relations Update - Nov. 29


The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), the union that represents secondary teachers across the province, has announced that its members will partake in a one-day strike on Wednesday, December 4 if a deal is not reached at the provincial level by that time.

If this occurs, there will be no classes, planned activities, co-operative education placements or extracurriculars for students in Grades 9 to 12 on Wednesday, December 4. At this time, all classes will resume as normal for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8.

ETFO and OSSTF Labour Relations Update - Nov. 22 

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF), the unions that represent public school elementary and secondary teachers across the province, have announced they will proceed with work-to-rule campaigns (partial withdrawal of services) effective Tuesday, November 26. ETFO and OSSTF Labour Relations Update - Nov. 15


The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO), the union that represents elementary teachers across the province, will be in a legal strike position as of Monday, November 25. The union has indicated that teachers will proceed with job action in the form of a work-to-rule campaign (a partial withdrawal of services) effective Tuesday, November 26 if an agreement is not reached between all parties at the provincial level.
