September 26, 2019 (Brockville, ON) – Today is National Terry Fox School Run Day and, despite many school runs getting postponed due to weather, hundreds of students across the Upper Canada District School Board still took part in school runs today, with hundreds more taking part next week. All the money raised in these events go to the Terry Fox Foundation and supports cancer research.

Many UCDSB schools have participated in the run for more than 20 years. In June the UCDSB received recognition from the Terry Fox Foundation for surpassing the $1 million milestone in fundraising, with a lifetime board-wide fundraising total of $1.43 million.

"The Terry Fox School Run Day is a day our students live our Character Always motto, by raising funds for cancer research and honouring the memory of Terry Fox,” says Chair John McAllister. “We are so proud of the work our students do each year around this national fundraising effort.”

Several schools held associated events with this year's run to enhance the opportunity to celebrate Terry Fox, such as BBQs and sporting events.
