September 27, 2018 (Brockville, ON)
–  Today is Terry Fox School Run Day and schools across the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) honoured his legacy by hosting their own 2018 Terry Fox School Run.

Many schools held assemblies or talks before their runs to educate students about the contribution Fox made to cancer research across the world. “Schools use the Terry Fox School Run as a teachable moment to help students learn the value of caring and perseverance, as well as to remind them of how Terry left Canada and the world a better place,” said Superintendent Deanna Perry.

Although the official day is September 27, schools across our board are hosting runs up to October 5 – with many occurring today and tomorrow. While final totals are not yet in, board events traditionally generate tens of thousands of dollars annually for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Since Fox’s death in 1981, runs held in his name have generated $750 million for cancer research.
